Watch the 'Girls' season 2 trailer and love it

By Courtney Hazlett, TODAY

There exists no better happy Friday gift than this trailer, the teaser for the second season of HBO series "Girls." After initially wanting to dislike this show with every fiber of my being, I, like many others (as evidenced by four Emmy nominations the show and creator Lena Dunham scored) became totally enamored.

Which is why this trailer is such a happy thing, and infinitely re-watchable.

All the main characters make an appearance, and things appear to pick up more or less where the first season left off. Jessa (Jemima Kirke) is still married, Marnie (Allison Williams) age-appropriately conflicted, and without spoiling the whole thing, know this: Adam and Hannah might be better and more fun to watch as a broken-up couple than they were when they were together.

Take a look, and let us know what you think on our Facebook page.

"Girls" returns to HBO at 9 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13.?

How, in the animal world, a daughter avoids mating with her father: Paternal 'voice' recognition

ScienceDaily (Nov. 30, 2012) ? Paternal recognition -- being able to identify males from your father's line -- is important for the avoidance of inbreeding, and one way that mammals can do this is through recognizing the calls of paternal kin. This was thought to occur only in large-brained animals with complex social groups, but a new study published November 30 in the open access journal BMC Ecology provides evidence in a tiny, solitary primate that challenges this theory.

The study, led by Sharon E Kessler, finds that the grey mouse lemur (Microcebus murinus) -- a small-brained, solitary foraging mammal endemic to Madagascar -- is able to recognize paternal relatives via vocalizations, thus providing evidence that this is not dependent upon having a large brain and a high social complexity, as previously suggested.

Because grey mouse lemurs are nocturnal solitary-foragers living in dense forests, vocal communication is important for regulating social interactions across distances where visibility is poor and communication via smell is limited. Though the mouse lemur shares sleeping sites with other mouse lemurs, it forages alone for fruit and insects. It is a particularly interesting species with which to study vocal paternal recognition because, in the wild, females remain in the same area of birth and cooperatively raise young with other female kin. Males do not co-nest with their mates or young and provide no paternal care, which limits opportunities for familiarity-based social interactions. Thus, vocalizations are likely to be important -- particularly for avoiding inbreeding.

The research team from Arizona State University and the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover in Germany found that two of the most frequent calls of the mouse lemur were the mate advertisement call and the alarm call. Using multi-parametric analyses of the call's acoustic parameters, they could see that both call types contained individual signatures. Through this, they discovered that only male grey mouse lemur advertisement calls, but not alarm calls, contained acoustic paternal signatures. Furthermore, females paid more attention to advertisement calls from unrelated males than from their fathers.

The findings from the study suggest that the discrimination between mate advertisement calls and alarm calls may be an important mechanism for inbreeding avoidance. This is likely to be highly important in the grey mouse lemur species because males are likely to remain in an area for several years and they can expand their ranges to more than twice that of the female's range, making it likely that adult males' ranges will overlap with those of their daughters from previous mating seasons.

The team also proposed that the mouse lemur's ultrasonic calls above the hearing range of owls could be an anti-predator strategy, especially since the species suffers from high predation.

Lead author Kessler commented, "Given that more complex forms of sociality with cohesive foraging groups are thought to have evolved from an ancestral solitary forager much like the mouse lemur, this suggests that the mechanisms for kin recognition like those seen here may be the foundation from which more complex forms of kin-based sociality evolved."

She continued, "Future analyses will determine which acoustic parameters make this kin recognition possible by artificially manipulating acoustic parameters in the calls and then using the modified calls in playback experiments."

Biomarker May Help Mesothelioma Patients Combat Resistance to ...

Nov282012

Biomarker May Help Mesothelioma PatientsInnovation in mesothelioma research is happening at a staggering pace. This year alone, the clinical trials at multiple research institutions have yielded a myriad of improvements in how oncologists treat mesothelioma.

Currently, chemotherapy, such as crizotinib, is the most used method of treatment for inhibiting the growth of the disease and slowing the symptoms. There are multiple chemotherapeutic methods that can be used to treat mesothelioma but problems arise when the cancer becomes chemo-resistant, which essentially renders the treatments useless. Medical researchers, however, believe they have found a new biomarker that may help identify chemo-resistance in mesothelioma and lung cancer patients and potentially restore drug sensitivity.

Mesothelioma researchers have reported that they have identified a key gene that determines a patient?s resistance to a host of different chemotherapy drugs.? Researchers have found a biomarker that can forecast a patient?s reaction to cancer drugs and aid oncologists in determining the best strategy of treatment.

A biomarker is a molecule or gene in the body that indicates a biological state.? Researchers can use biomarkers to measure how certain people react to various types of treatment.?Mesothelioma researchers have also been looking at biomarkers to diagnose mesothelioma and other types of cancers in the early stages and evaluate which treatments work best in patients.?

Professor Rene Bernards of the Netherlands Cancer Institute was the senior author in a study that evaluated how a specific biomarker influenced drug resistance.? Bernards and his team of researchers began the study to determine why some patients developed resistance to crizotinib. The group discovered that a protein involved in cell growth and cell death was enhanced when the MED12 biomarker was suppressed. Furthermore, certain cancer drugs, such as crizotinib, were rendered ineffective. The drug responsiveness was restored, however, when the researchers inhibited TGF-betaR signaling in MED12-deficient cells.

In order to prevent drug resistance in mesothelioma patients, Bernards says that researchers must first understand the mechanisms of drug resistance.?After establishing what effects that blocking the escape route in MED12-deficient cells has in a mesothelioma patient, researchers may be able to restore a patient?s resistance to chemotherapy drugs.

The mesothelioma lawyers at Baron and Budd applaud the efforts of Professor Rene Bernards and his team of researchers at the Netherlands Cancer Institute.?For almost 35 years, the mesothelioma law firm has been dedicated to the advancement of mesothelioma treatment. The firm is committed to delivering the most current, relevant and cohesive information to the mesothelioma community in addition to fighting against the asbestos companies responsible for asbestos-related diseases.

Behind the curtain of the Great and Powerful Grover

    (Michael D'Antuono/www.artandresponse.com)

WASHINGTON?If aliens landed in Washington, D.C. right now, they might assume in their search for a terrestrial leader that a bespectacled man called "Grover Norquist" controlled the planet's most powerful nation. They might also conclude that this person had magical powers.

The misunderstanding wouldn't necessarily be their fault.

Grover Fever has swept the nation's capital this week, shortly after thousands of politicos waddled back into the city after a Thanksgiving break. After years of notoriety in Washington but near obscurity elsewhere, Norquist is becoming a household name around the dinner table.

"The Colbert Report" recently devoted a feature to Norquist, portraying the 56-year-old Harvard graduate as an omniscient creature whose power knows no bounds. Norquist has been all over cable news shows and the subject of lengthy profiles in prestigious newspapers and magazines. Outside Washington's Metro stations this week, hawkers handed out free tabloid dailies bearing the image of his face. Politico devoted an entire hour to him at a newsmakers breakfast on Wednesday morning.

His name is on the lips of top Democrats in Congress who blame him for single-handedly bringing the United States of America to an immediate standstill. Norquist is "one obstacle standing between Congress and compromise," Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid exclaimed from the Senate floor on Tuesday morning.

His crime? Norquist has persuaded more than 1,000 politicians to sign a pledge never to raise taxes through his organization, Americans for Tax Reform (ATR). But with Congress now debating how to avoid the so-called fiscal cliff?a series of tax increases and spending cuts scheduled to kick in Jan. 1 if a budget deal isn't reached with President Barack Obama?some Republicans appear to be wiggling away from Norquist's grip.

A few GOP lawmakers have voiced a willingness to eliminate deductions within the tax code, which, without offsetting tax cuts elsewhere, would technically violate the pledge. One of the possible pledge violators, Republican Rep. Peter King of New York, called Norquist a "low-life" and said his wife would "knock his head off" after Norquist compared the taxpayer pledge to King's marriage vows.

But Norquist is like a bearded Lernaean Hydra, which grows only more powerful the more you attack it. The evidence? A majority of Republicans have not publicly joined the rogue moderates, reinforcing the narrative that they remain under Norquist's binding spell.

But Norquist isn't necessarily the most powerful conservative activist in town. And many conservatives don't always move in lockstep with him, which is clear in the current debate over the fiscal cliff.

While there is a consensus among Republicans against increasing marginal tax rates for the sake of a deal, the disagreement lies in whether to eliminate deductions and close loopholes in the tax code.

Norquist insists that eliminating the loopholes without offsetting them by tax cuts would violate the pledge, but others say the deductions violate conservative principles by inserting the hand of government into the market.

"We look at things differently than Grover does," Chris Chocola, president of the free-market group the Club for Growth, told Yahoo News. "We have always been advocates of lowering the marginal rate, broadening the base, eliminating what we think are market-distorting tax credits and loopholes."

Chocola said the approach would produce benefits that could please both parties: It would force companies that manipulate the system of loopholes to pay more in taxes and increase revenue by growing the economy.

Matt Kibbe, who heads the tea party organizing network FreedomWorks, agreed that any deal that scrapped the thousands of tax code loopholes would be progress.

"An ideal tax code doesn't choose favorites, and it shouldn't matter that you have a great lobbyist in Washington, D.C.," Kibbe said. "I think all conservatives generally support fundamental tax reform?they don't like the idea that GE gets a special credit for green energy or that some other company gets different treatment from anyone else."

Despite the differences, Norquist remains the man in the spotlight. He seems to be enjoying every minute of it, using the opportunity to promote his organization and raising his own profile.

On Wednesday, Norquist presided over a gathering of conservative activists who piled into a massive conference room at ATR's Washington office. The hump-day confab, known as "The Wednesday Meeting," puts what Hillary Clinton famously called "the vast right-wing conspiracy" in one room for an hour and a half every week.

The meeting is strictly off the record, but reporters can attend if they agree not to disclose details of the discussion.

On each chair in the room, representatives stacked press releases, pamphlets and articles promoting their organizations. From ATR, everyone received a full-page, color picture of former Republican President George H.W. Bush, whose bid for a second term was foiled after he agreed to raise taxes. It was a warning to anyone who might be thinking of breaking the pledge.

This week's meeting was standing-room only, and Norquist, wearing a headset microphone, was in his element, roaring through presentations. Seated at the head of the table, he called on activists, think-tankers and members of Congress to share how they are promoting the conservative movement.

Despite his image as a puppeteer who controls the strings of Republican lawmakers, Norquist is not so much the Secret Master of the GOP as he is the Grand Facilitator of the coalitions that hold it together.

In the meantime, he doesn't seem to mind the confusion.

Arctic sea ice larger than US melted this year

DOHA, Qatar (AP) ? An area of Arctic sea ice bigger than the United States melted this year, according the U.N. weather agency, which said the dramatic decline illustrates that climate change is happening "before our eyes."

In a report released at U.N. climate talks in the Qatari capital of Doha, the World Meteorological Organization said the Arctic ice melt was one of a myriad of extreme and record-breaking weather events to hit the planet in 2012. Droughts devastated nearly two-thirds of the United States as well western Russia and southern Europe. Floods swamped west Africa and heat waves left much of the Northern Hemisphere sweltering.

But it was the ice melt that seemed to dominate the annual climate report, with the U.N. concluding ice cover had reached "a new record low" in the area around the North Pole and that the loss from March to September was a staggering 11.83 million square kilometers (4.57 million square miles) ? an area bigger than the United States.

"The alarming rate of its melt this year highlighted the far-reaching changes taking place on Earth's oceans and biosphere," WMO Secretary-General Michel Jarraud said. "Climate change is taking place before our eyes and will continue to do so as a result of the concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, which have risen constantly and again reached new records."

The dire climate news ? following on the heels of a report Tuesday that found melting permafrost could significantly amplify global warming ? comes as delegates from nearly 200 countries struggled for a third day to lay the groundwork for a deal that would cut emissions in an attempt to ensure that temperatures don't rise more than 2 degrees C (3.6 degrees F) over what they were in preindustrial times. Temperatures have already risen about 0.8 degrees C (1.4 degrees F), according to the latest report by the IPCC.

Discord between rich and poor countries on who should do what has kept the two-decade-old U.N. talks from delivering on that goal, and global emissions are still going up.

Rajendra Pachauri, chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which shared the Nobel Peace Prize in 2007 with former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, urged delegates to heed the science and quickly take action.

"When I had the privilege in 2007 of accepting the Nobel Peace Prize on behalf of the IPCC, in my speech I asked the rhetorical question, 'Will those responsible for decisions in the field of climate change at the global level listen to the voice of science and knowledge, which is now loud and clear,' " he said. "I am not sure our voice is louder today but it is certainly clearer on the basis of the new knowledge."

Delegates in Doha are bickering over money from rich countries to help poorer ones adapt to and combat the impacts of climate change, and whether developed countries will sign onto an extension of a legally binding emissions pact, the Kyoto Protocol, that would run until 2020.

A pact that once incorporated all industrialized countries except the United States would now include only the European Union, Australia and several smaller countries which together account for less than 15 percent of global emissions. And the United States is refusing to offer any bolder commitments to cut its emissions beyond a non-binding pledge to reduce emissions by 17 percent below 2005 levels by 2020.

"For developed country parties like the United States and the European Union, the pledges and commitments ... put forward on the table are far below what is required by the science," Su Wei, a member of the Chinese delegation, told reporters. "And far below what is required by their historical responsibility."

Developing countries have said they are willing to take steps to control emissions, but that they must be given space to build their economies. Although China is the largest carbon polluter and India is rapidly catching up, both countries lag far behind the industrial countries in emissions per person and still have huge populations mired in poverty. They don't see emissions peaking anytime soon.

"We are still in the process of industrialization. We are also confronted with the enormous task of poverty eradication," said Wei, acknowledging that the country's emissions won't peak by 2020.

"In order to eradicate poverty, to try to improve the living standards, certainly we need to develop our economy," he said. "So the emissions will need to grow for a period of time."

Doing Business in Germany: Formation of a corporate entity named ...

A German GmbH can be set up by one or more individuals or entities, usually without restrictions. It is an excellent vehicle to gain access to a thriving market, giving the US investor a local presence in Germany and the European Union. Urban Thier Federer & Chinnery represents clients from all over the United States with regards to the initial formation of a German entity, followed by ongoing advice with regards to legal issues in Germany and the European Union, such as contracts, Intellectual Property matters and any other business law related advice the client requests.

    1. Entity

The GmbH is a German limited liability company. It is comparable to the United States ?C-Corporation?. It is not a partnership or a hybrid entity, such as the United States ?LLC?.

The GmbH is a very structured entity form which is at the same time flexible to adjust to the needs of a US investor. Its Articles of Incorporation (?Satzung?) allow a wide range of regulations to enable an investor to exercise control over management and prevent undesired share transfers. The GmbH is usually a vehicle for smaller to mid-sized businesses; large companies use the ?Aktiengesellschaft?, the ?AG?, which is a corporation suited for larger and for public companies.

A minimum amount of EUR 25,000 is required as equity contribution to the GmbH. The amount of equity paid and the names of the different shareholders are entered into the public register. A supervisory board is not required by law in Germany; however, such a board can be established if the shareholders decide to do so or by regulation in the articles of the GmbH. The formation of the GmbH and all and any sale and transfer of shares has to be performed in front of a German Notar. The German Notar is a specifically qualified lawyer, appointed by the court, to act as a quasi-judicial entity to ensure the accuracy of important transaction, such as the formation of a GmbH or the transfer and sale of shares in a German GmbH. His role and education requirements are every different from a US notary public.

The liabilities of the shareholders of the GmbH towards third parties are limited to the amount of the signed share capital of the company. Once a shareholder has paid his or her equity contribution in full, there is no more individual liability on the part of the shareholder. It Is permitted to make in-kind contributions instead of cash contributions.

The location of the actual registered office of the GmbH has to be within Germany. It is possible to open one or more office locations for the GmbH outside of Germany, in example at the location of a foreign shareholder of the GmbH.

After the GmbH was set up in front of the German Notar, the formation proceedings are not completed unless the required equity amount has been paid in and the registration with the German public register has been submitted by the Notar. In the interim, the entity can already act and contract, but has to add the affix ?i.G.? to its name, indicating that it is a GmbH in the process of formation. If the formation is not eventually completed, the managers and the shareholders may be held liable for obligations entered into by the GmbH i.G.

    1. Shareholders

The shareholders of a GmbH have substantial powers. The majority of shareholders can, through a resolution made at a shareholder meeting, direct the managers to follow its instructions. Votes are usually counted in accordance with the percentage of shares owned (?Geschaeftsanteil?).

The shareholders have the right to approve the annual financial statements. They determine how the company profits are used and appoint and dismiss the managers. In essence, they are entitled to direct the business through the executing managers.

    1. Management

The GmbH can have one or more managers, called ?Geschaeftsfuehrer?. The manager has to be an individual person; legal entities are not permitted as manager. Such manager can live in Germany or abroad, he/she does not necessarily have to be a German resident or citizen. However, there is a substantial number of obligations of a manager of a GmbH, in particular related to incidences where the GmbH is low on liquidity. Due to the complexity of these legal obligations, it is very much recommended to any US investor who wishes to operate through a GmbH in Germany to appoint an experienced GmbH Geschaeftsfuehrer as manager. The US investor should also work with and through specialized local legal advisors such as Urban Thier Federer & Chinnery.

Safer spinach? Scientist's technique dramatically reduces E. coli numbers

ScienceDaily (Nov. 27, 2012) ? University of Illinois scientists have found a way to boost current industry capabilities when it comes to reducing the number of E. coli 0157:H7 cells that may live undetected on spinach leaves.

?By combining continuous ultrasound treatment with chlorine washing, we can reduce the total number of foodborne pathogenic bacteria by over 99.99 percent,? said Hao Feng, a U of I professor of food science and human nutrition.

According to Feng, the USDA is looking for proposed technologies that can achieve a 4 to 6 log reduction in pathogen cells (a 6 log reduction would achieve a million-fold reduction in pathogenic bacteria). The food processing industry can now achieve a 1 log or tenfold reduction. In comparison, the U of I technique yields a 4 log reduction.

?Combining technologies is the key to bridging the gap between our current capacity and what USDA would like to see. The use of ultrasound exposure during chlorine washing gives the industry a way to significantly enhance microbial safety,? he said.

Feng?s pilot-scale system uses three pairs of large-area ultrasonic transducer boxes to form a channel through which ultrasound is provided to spinach leaves that are undergoing a continuous-flow chlorine wash. Spatial uniformity of ultrasound distribution was confirmed by tests using metallic foil.

The scientist said that continuous flow and uniformity of the field are key elements in the success of the process.

?Previous work with ultrasound used a tank or a medical-style probe, which doesn?t provide consistent and even distribution,? he noted.

System design is important for another reason, he said. ?Placement of the produce as it makes its way through the channel turns out to be very important. We had to find ways to make sure that leaves received similar exposure to ultrasound, taking care to minimize the chance that one leaf would block a nearby leaf?s exposure to the sound waves.?

If even part of a leaf escaped the full ultrasonic treatment, it could contaminate the rest of the produce, he said.

Feng and his team have used the technique on iceberg and romaine lettuce as well as spinach with similar results.

Co-authors of the paper, published in Innovative Food Science and Emerging Technologies, are the U of I?s Bin Zhou and Arne J. Pearlstein. Funding was provided by Food Technology Noord-Oost Nederland, with additional support from the USDA.

Ludworth Charl, the highlight of the williamhill.com Stakes

The Grade A1 williamhill.com Stakes will be staged at Newcastle over 480 metres flat on Tuesday, 27th November. Taking their chances with the ?133 prize money are, Nadurra Alvaro, Ludworth Charl, Liosgarbh Ead, Killinan Brave, Strange Ozzy and Kielduff College. The 11 to 4 joint favourites for the race are, Kielduff College and Ludworth Charl.

The two-year-old blue and white dog, Ludworth Charl, started racing just this season and has been striving to maintain a certain benchmark in his performance since the last four outings. He ended second in two outings, third and then first in the very recent attempt.

He scored second in the Grade A1 williamhill.com Stakes on 6th November, 2012 at Newcastle over 480 metres.

He took off from the second stall, but got baulked when racing in the first position and after that could not match the stance of the winner, Liosgarbh Und, who had the race concluded in 29.28 seconds.

The loss did not turn out to be a devastating blow as the blue trap qualified as the runner-up by the loss of a neck?s mark.

The P. Rutherford trained retained the form and the ranking in the Grade A1 William Hill ? The Home Of Betting on 10th November, 2012 at Newcastle over 480 metres flat.

This time he missed the first spot by a length?s mark as he failed to match the leading strategy of the winner, Shiloh Supreme, who took off from the red trap and made it to the other end of the wire in 28.96 seconds.

Ballymac Maeve?s son then went all out in the Grade A1 William Hill Supporting Racing Post Tv Stakes on 21st November, 2012 at Newcastle over 480 metres flat.

He raced in the blue jacket of the second trap and did not wait for long to take up the leading role on the track. The favourite entry concluded the race in 29.16 seconds and led the runner-up, Droopys Maureen by good three lengths.

For tonight too he has retained the blue trap, there is nothing new or unfamiliar about it as the two-year-old has already raced and won from it.

ScienceDaily (Nov. 26, 2012) ? Patients newly prescribed a cholesterol-lowering medication were more likely to pick it up from the pharmacy if they received automated phone and mail reminders, according to a study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine November 27. This is one of a few published studies to examine strategies for reducing primary nonadherence, which occurs when patients do not pick up new prescriptions.

The study of 5,216 Kaiser Permanente Southern California patients found that those who received an automated reminder were 1.6 times more likely to fill prescriptions for cholesterol-lowering statins than those who didn't receive a reminder. Informational and encouraging phone calls were automatically generated if a patient did not pick up his or her medication within one or two weeks of a doctor's appointment where a prescription was ordered. One week after the telephone call, researchers sent a reminder letter to patients who still had not picked up their prescription. When systems for automated outreach exist, the expense of outreach is relatively small. Expenses for both these prompts totaled $1.70 per participant in the study. After the intervention, the percentage of patients who picked up their prescriptions increased from 26 to 42 percent.

"Getting patients to take the well-proven medicines their physicians prescribe for them will ultimately reduce their risk of heart attacks and stroke," said Stephen F. Derose, MD, of the Kaiser Permanente Southern California Department of Research & Evaluation. "This automated intervention is a good way to very efficiently reach a large number of people and improve their health outcomes."

Medication nonadherence occurs when a patient does not follow a clinically prescribed medication course, endangering his or her own health and possibly necessitating more aggressive treatment or hospitalizations later. Previous studies estimated that in the United States each year medication nonadherence contributes to approximately 125,000 deaths and costs the health care system $290 billion. One in three patients prescribed a medication by their health care provider never pick it up from the pharmacy, and, among those who do, nearly 3 in 4 Americans do not take prescription drugs according to providers' orders.

Although this study examined medication adherence exclusively among patients at Kaiser Permanente Southern California receiving their first prescription for a statin drug, the low-cost method is likely to be viable for large populations, other chronic conditions, and other medications. Based on the results of the study, Kaiser Permanente Southern California implemented a new regional outreach program in April 2012. The program has sent reminders to about 2,200 members each month.

"Given the prevalence of the problem, especially among patients with chronic conditions, minor improvements in medication adherence among groups of people should yield significantly better health outcomes for patients and savings for hospitals and health systems," said Dr. Derose.

Kaiser Permanente can deliver transformational health research in part because it has the largest private electronic health system in the world. The organization's integrated model and electronic health record system securely connect 9 million people, 533 medical offices, and 37 hospitals, linking patients with their health care teams, their personal health information, and the latest medical knowledge. It also connects Kaiser Permanente's epidemiological researchers to one of the most extensive collections of longitudinal and de-identified medical data available, facilitating studies and important medical discoveries that shape the future of health and care delivery for patients and the medical community. This research is a part of Kaiser Permanente's broader efforts to understand and prevent medication nonadherence. Previous Kaiser Permanente research includes:

    • A study of 12,061 men and women in Kaiser Permanente Colorado that found patients whose pharmacies are linked to their electronic health records are more likely to pick up their prescriptions. (Journal of General Internal Medicine, 2011)
    • A Kaiser Permanente Northern California study that found patients who obtained new statin prescriptions via a mail-order pharmacy achieved better cholesterol control during the first year of therapy. (Journal of General Internal Medicine, 2011)
    • A first-of-its-kind study that found buying mail-order medications may encourage patients to stick to their doctor-prescribed medication regimen. (American Journal of Managed Care, 2010)

This study was funded through a collaboration with Merck Sharp & Dohme Corp., a subsidiary of Merck & Co., Inc., Whitehouse Station, NJ.

EUR/USD and GBP/USD maintain disposition at the beginning of ...

Last week Forex trading was done in unusual conditions. On Thursday Thanksgiving Day was celebrated in the USA.? That is why many investors began to leave the market and returned to the monitors only on Monday. Thus, Forex market became a thin market by the end of the week. High profit currency managed to avail itself of the opportunity. The euro attacked the dollar and approached to 1.3000. It was mostly caused by the expectations of Greek aid tranche which may be approved by the Ministers of Finance of the euro zone at today?s meeting. The unified currency was also supported by the reports published during the week, which mostly represented better-then-expected results. What are the perspectives of the EUR/USD currency pair for the last week of autumn? Of course, if the Greek tranche is approved, the euro will most likely continue growing and then the euro will aimed to break out above 1.3000. But we can?t rule out the possibility of another scenario. Firstly, there are no guarantees good results of today?s meeting (let?s remember Merkel?s words on disagreements over Greek problems).Secondly, even if the ministers approve the next aid tranche, it need to be approved by the Parliaments of many countries, including Germany (the Parliamentary voting will be on the 30thof November). Moreover, don?t forget about an old favorite trading rule But the Rumor, Sell the Fact. So, the EUR/USD growth may change into decline. In my opinion, it will depend on whether the euro will manage to break out above 1.3000 and will fix above this level. If it manages to do it, bull trend will remain intact. If not, the euro may lost everything it has got without difficulties in thin market. The GBP/USD currency pair also broke out last week. By the way, the pound managed to get an important technical victory: to return above key resistance ? the Gann line which begins from the summer low (which is red on the chart). It became a kind of ?restoration of justice?: after all the EUR/USD manages to hold up above the same line on its chart. Meanwhile, the UK economy doesn?t look worse than the economy of E-17! And published protocol of the last meeting of the bank of England confirmed that the quantitative easing implemented by the Central Bank is not expected this year. So, from this point of view the pound looked re-sold lately. This week the GBP/USD dynamics will depend on the fact whether this currency pair will manage to fix above achieved level. If it returns under 1.6000, it will create a threat to downward movement.

Food Network Kitchen eatery opens at Fla. airport

    3 hrs.

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. --?The Food Network is getting into the restaurant business in a location not always associated with good food: An airport.

The channel has opened its first Food Network Kitchen at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in South Florida in the JetBlue terminal.

"The dynamic of food and travel has changed," said Sergei Kuharsky, general manager of Food Network's new business enterprises. "You used to never go in and think about eating at an airport."

Now, with passengers arriving early to get through security and limited options for in-flight food, there's a market for airport dining. "We are responding to that opportunity," Kuharsky said.

The Food Network Kitchen is the only eatery serving hot food at the JetBlue concourse. But it's the brand that gets attention from travelers as much as the lack of alternatives.

"I walked by and I said 'Oh wow, look at that. Food Network restaurant.' So I came in," said Richard Wierzbicki of Austin, Texas. "And I would look for it again because I thought the sandwich was really good."

Since opening Nov. 8, the Food Network Kitchen has averaged 1,500 customers a day.

"Airport locations are very busy, but this one especially," said Jean-Pierre Turgot, general manager for Delaware North Companies Travel Hospitality Services, which partnered with the Food Network to provide chef-inspired meals at the airport and is also a partner in Food Network-branded food sold at concession stands and stadiums. "It's the highest revenue producer at the airport."

There are no waiters, so customers sit at tables after ordering at the counter or they can get takeout food, either made to order or readymade items like sandwiches and salads.

While the recipes are developed and branded by the Food Network, the offerings are not named for Food Network personalities, shows or chefs. Instead, the menu promises organic and sustainable ingredients and offers dishes with connections to local ingredients and regional culture, such as a Florida shrimp po'boy ($13) and a salmon burger with Key lime mayo ($14).

South Florida's Latin culture is reflected in items such as the Cuban breakfast burrito ($8) and a black beans and rice burger with "mojo mayo" ($12). Also on the menu: fried pickles with Key lime mayo ($6); sweet potato fries with Key lime tartar sauce ($5); and a Cuban sandwich ($12) with cafe con leche mayo pressed on a ciabatta roll.

Wait times can back up when flights arrive and the airport gets busy, so it's best to arrive early if you plan to sit down, as Liz Lamoureux did before flying back home to San Antonio, Texas.

"On our way here, I was saying we wanted to get here early to sit down for a drink," she said as she nibbled on edamame and sipped on the house pinot grigio.

Beverages range from espresso to entwine, the Food Network's wine brand, to locally-inspired cocktails like Lansky's Run, named for the Prohibition-era gangster Meyer Lansky.

The design of the restaurant resembles the cable network's test kitchen: a butcher block bar counter, subway tiling, stainless steel surfaces and pots and pans hanging in a row ? only here, they hang behind a cash register.

The network's logo is plastered on everything from to-go boxes to brown paper bags filled with jelly beans and chocolate-covered pretzels. Most of the TVs are tuned to the Food Network, though some show sports or news. There are also some fun facts on display: A poster near the cash register details local ingredients used in the meals, while paper placemats explain how to filet a fish and describe different cuts of beef.

"We really wanted to bring our culinary expertise to the forefront and bring the brand to life," Food Network's Kuharsky said. "I think people are going to be drawn to the brand, but it also comes down to taste."

But while the network has already put its name on consumer products like frying pans and candles, along with its concession stand and stadium food, serving quality food at an airport restaurant presents different challenges.

"Branding on the front lines has the most exposure and is different than putting your name on a logo," said Chris Tripoli, president of A'la Carte Foodservice Consulting Group, who has worked on food concepts in airports across the country. "Now that you have exposed yourself to the end user, your reputation, that Food Network brand, is going to be judged on the temperature of the green beans that day or by every bite of the sandwich."

Tripoli added that Food Network staffers on the restaurant's front lines "know their brand is only going to be as good as their last meal."

The Food Network and Delaware North Companies plan to open more outlets in the spring at the busy JetBlue terminal. Another Food Network Kitchen is scheduled to open at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport by the end of 2013.?

Google pays $400 million for wireless internet provider ICOA (correction: no it didn't)

Google made another grab for its internet infrastructure, this time picking up wireless hotspot company ICOA for the sum of $400 million. From the deal, the internet giant will control around 1,500 wired and wireless broadband locales in "high-traffic" public spaces, including airports, restaurants and universities, spread across 45 US states. Google will presumably be running these public WiFi spots in addition to its current deal with Boingo -- and in addition to those 180 fiberhoods.

Correction: Looks like reports of the acquisition were greatly exaggerated as AllThingsD is reporting, and we've been able to independently confirm that Google has not bought ICOA.

Prof finds racial profiling in ads for data site

    6 hrs.

Dr. Latisha Smith, an expert in decompression sicknesses afflicting deep sea divers, has cleared criminal background checks throughout her medical career. Yet someone searching the Web for the Washington state physician might well come across an Internet ad suggesting she may have an arrest record.

"Latisha Smith, arrested?" reads one such advertisement.

Another says: "Latisha Smith Truth... Check Latisha Smith's Arrests."

Instantcheckmate.com, which labels itself the "Internet's leading authority on background checks," placed both ads. A statistical analysis of the company's advertising has found it has disproportionately used ad copy including the word "arrested" for black-identifying names, even when a person has no arrest record.

Latanya Sweeney is a Harvard University professor of government with a doctorate in computer science. After learning that her own name had popped up in an "arrested?" ad when a colleague was searching for one of her academic publications, she ran more than 120,000 searches for names primarily given to either black or white children, testing ads delivered for 2,400 real names 50 times each. (The author of this story is a Harvard University fellow collaborating with Sweeney on a book about the business of personal data.)

Ebony Jefferson, for example, often turns up an instantcheckmate.com ad reading: "Ebony Jefferson, arrested?" but an ad triggered by a search for Emily Jefferson would read: "We found Emily Jefferson." Searches for randomly chosen black-identifying names such as Deshawn Williams, Latisha Smith or Latanya Smith often produced the "arrested?" headline or ad text with the word "arrest," whereas other less ethnic-sounding first names matched with the same surnames typically did not.

"As an African-American, I'm used to profiling like that," said Smith. "I think it's horrendous that they get away with it."

Instantcheckmate.com declined to comment. The company's founder and managing partner, Kristian Kibak, did not respond to repeated emails and phone calls over a period of several months, and other employees referred calls to management. Company officials also declined to comment when visited twice at their call center in Las Vegas. Former employees said they had signed nondisclosure agreements that barred them from speaking openly about Instant Checkmate.

Instantcheckmate.com is one of many data brokers that use and sell data for a variety of purposes. The field is attracting growing attention, both from government and consumers concerned about possible abuse. Rapid advances in technology have opened up all sorts of opportunities for commercialization of data.

Anyone can set up shop and sell arrest records as long as they stay clear of U.S. legal limitations such as using the information to determine creditworthiness, insurance or job suitability.

Companies that compete with instantcheckmate.com include intelius.com and mylife.com. An examination of Internet advertising starting last March as well as Sweeney's study did not find any rival companies advertising background searches on individual names along racial lines.

    Who can be trusted??
In its own marketing, Instantcheckmate.com sums up its mission like this: "Parents will no longer need to wonder about whether their neighbors, friends, home day care providers, a former spouse's new love interest or preschool providers can be trusted to care for their children responsibly."

According to preliminary findings of Sweeney's research, searches of names assigned primarily to black babies, such as Tyrone, Darnell, Ebony and Latisha, generated "arrest" in the instantcheckmate.com ad copy between 75 percent and 96 percent of the time. Names assigned at birth primarily to whites, such as Geoffrey, Brett, Kristen and Anne, led to more neutral copy, with the word "arrest" appearing between zero and 9 percent of the time.

A few names fell outside of these patterns: Brad, a name predominantly given to white babies, produced an ad with the word "arrest" 62 percent to 65 percent of the time. Sweeney found that ads appear regardless of whether the name has an arrest record attached to it.

Blacks make up about 13 percent of the U.S. population but account for 28 percent of the arrests listed on the FBI's most recent annual crime statistics.

Internet advertising based on millions of name pairs has only existed in recent years, so targeting ads along racial lines raises new legal questions. Experts say the Federal Trade Commission, which this year assessed an $800,000 penalty against personal data site Spokeo.com for different reasons (related to the use of data for job-vetting purposes), would be the institution best placed to review Instant Checkmate's practices.

The FTC enforces regulations against unfair or deceptive business practices. A deceptive claim that would be more likely to get people to purchase a product than they would otherwise would be a typical reason the FTC might act against a company, said one FTC official who did not want to be identified. For example, authorities could take action against a firm that makes misleading claims suggesting a product such as records exist when they do not.

"It's disturbing," Julie Brill, an FTC commissioner, said of Instant Checkmate's advertising. "I don't know if it's illegal ... It's something that we'd need to study to see if any enforcement action is needed."

Instant Checkmate's Kibak, who is in his late 20s, works out of a San Diego office near the Pacific Ocean. The son of a California biology professor, he did not respond to repeated phone calls and emails seeking comment about his business.

"We would consider the answers to most of your questions trade secrets and therefore would not be comfortable disclosing that information," Joey Rocco, Kibak's partner according to the firm's Nevada state registration, said in an email.

Instant Checkmate LLC maintains its official corporate headquarters at an address in an industrial zone across the highway from the Las Vegas strip. At the back of a long parking lot, the company shares a warehouse building with an auto repair shop. At one end, a large roll-up garage-style door opens to the company's call center. Workers face a gray cinder-block wall, their backs to the entrance. Staff declined to answer questions.

    Data firms proliferate?
Sweeney's analysis found that some instantcheckmate.com ads hint at arrest records when the firm's database has no record of any arrest for that name, as is the case with her own name. In other cases, such as that of Latisha Smith, the company does have arrest records for some people by that name, although not for the doctor of hypobaric medicine in Washington state.

Laura Beatty, an Internet Marketing Inc expert in helping companies achieve prominent placement in Web searches, said instantcheckmate.com appeared to choose its ads based on combinations of thousands of different first and last names and then segment them based on the first names.

"There does look like there is some definite profiling going on here," she said. "In the searches that I looked at, it seemed like the more Midwestern- and WASP-sounding the name was, the less likely it was to have either any advertisement at all or to have something that was more geared around the arrest or criminal background."

Internet firms selling criminal records and personal data to the public have proliferated in recent years, as low-cost computing enables even modest operations to maintain large databases on millions of Americans. Such sites sell access to users for a one-time fee???$29.95 in the case of instantcheckmate.com???or via monthly subscription plans.

Instant Checkmate, first registered in Nevada in 2010, said in a recent press release posted online that the firm had attracted more than 570,000 customers since its start and counted more than 200,000 subscribers.

According to alexa.com, an Amazon.Com Inc site analyzing website traffic, instantcheckmate.com has ranged roughly between the 500th and 600th most visited U.S. site in recent weeks, making it an increasingly major player in this area.

The company is able to target its ads on an individual name basis through a program called Google AdWords. Instantcheckmate.com and others companies like it use Google AdWords to bid to place small text advertisements alongside search results on major websites triggered by the names in their data base. Such ads typically cost a company far less than a dollar, sometimes just a few pennies, each time they're clicked.

Google says it does not control what names appear in AdWords. "Advertisers select all of their keywords, and ads are triggered when someone searches for that name. We don't have any role in the advertiser's selection of unique proper names," said a Google spokesman.

Some in Congress have raised concerns about developments in the use of personal data. In October, Sen. John Rockefeller IV, a Democrat from West Virginia and chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation, opened a probe into leading data brokers. "Collecting, storing and selling information about Americans raises all types of questions that require careful scrutiny," he said.

How does one tell if a long distance relationship is real and sincere?
With the internet as the only means of contact and communication I am puzzled by people who profess their love without physically meeting. What gives here? Are men and woman prey to the advances of their own emotions and each other or are the hunters looking for something else?

    Suggestion by Tamika G
    1. Ask the important questions at the onset, to make sure you are both clear on the parameters of the relationship. Setting parameters such as naming your relationship ( dating, seeing each other, boyfriend/girlfriend, engaged)as well defining exclusive(limited to one person,) non exclusive. These can be difficult and awkward questions to ask, but will save you great heartache and misunderstanding down the line. Example: ?Are you open to the possibility of relocating if the relationship should become more serious??or ?What are you looking to get out of the relationship??. Stating your end goal or ideas will allow each person to maintain what they need.
    2. Communicate in some way every day, more than once if possible. Since you won?t be seeing each other, it?s important to establish and maintain an emotional connection. These don?t always have to be long, in-depth conversations. Tell each other about your little triumphs and tragedies. Ask for advice. Use an instant messenger program or VoIP for real-time chat, or web cams for that visual connection. E-mail is great so make sure you use it, especially if long-distance phone calls put a strain on your budget. Remember that e-mail and even instant messengers can increase the possibility of misunderstandings. Write love letters. Send small gifts or flowers for no reason. In this case, quantity is as important as quality. You may discover an advantage over others whose partner is close at hand ? you don?t take communication for granted!
    3. Do things together. Defy the distance. As a long distance couple, it?s important to do other things together besides the usual phone call. In a long distance relationship, interaction over the phone can become dull in the long run. Incorporating other forms of interaction are important. Just think? people in short-distance relationships do not spend the majority of their time talking, but rather doing things with each other. Try to replicate this by finding things to do together such as watching a TV show or movie simultaneously. For an extensive list of more things you can do with each other (or for each other) click here: Over 60 Activities for LDR Couples to Do!
    4. Take advantage of the benefits a long distance relationship offers: more time with friends and/or family, no arguments over toothpaste caps, the pleasure of seeing your sweetheart again after a long absence, time to mull your options (rather than snapping at your partner impulsively) before you respond to that email s/he wrote that seemed so rude the first time you read it, etc. Most important, being far apart gives you a chance to maintain your individuality ? something that can get lost in the shuffle when couples spend all their free time together.
    5. Pursue common interests, even if it means pursuing them apart. If there?s a movie you?re both interested in seeing, watch it individually and then call each other afterward and talk about it. Read a certain book at the same time. Stargaze while you?re on the phone. Set your watches to go off at the same time every day, and synchronize your alarm with that of your partner. Make it a point to think of each other when your watch goes off, and revel in the fact that he or she is thinking about you, too. Find creative ways to bond.
    6. Avoid the temptation to be controlling. People have free will and no one can or should control another person. As long as you are both interested in being in the relationship, you will stick with it and distance will not make a difference. As soon as one of you decides the other is not a good match ? or someone else is a better match ? your relationship ends, whether you live 3000 miles apart, two streets over, or share the same bed with your wedding picture on the wall. You are going to have to trust each other completely if this relationship is going to work.
    7. Talk about your future together. Assuming that ultimately you?d want to live together, discussing how you?re going to get to that point will help you prove to each other that the relationship is going somewhere and that your efforts and frustrations are not in vain.
    8. Know when to say good-bye. While this is tough in any relationship, this can be especially hard over long distances. When communication becomes one-sided or sparse for too long and for no apparent reason, when arguments (yes, you?ll have them) become too frequent, when the whole thing just seems like more trouble than it?s worth, it?s time to re-evaluate the relationship. You have to remember that for a healthy relationship, no matter how far or close, you must be willing to let go.
    9. Remember: things will get better with time, and even the relationship will become better. Have hope.
    10. Visit often Try to make the time to visit each other as often as possible or as often as your budget permits you to. A relationship cannot thrive if the only thing you have is the phone calls. You need to see each other up close and person

What is the minimum budget for investing in stock market and mutual fund?
I?m looking for long term investment and the things that i want to invest is the green tech company and nanotechnology company. Do you know where can i find the company, broker, and the people for help.

    Suggestion by John W
You should budget a portion of your cash flow for investing, a percentage of your salary. The value of a regular stream of money is surprisingly high and is often underestimated, a $ 5 coffee everyday forever has a net present value of $ 61,738.84 at a risk free rate of 3% per annum. That $ 100 a month iPhone contract is kept at $ 100 per month forever has a netpresent value of $ 40,547.06. Basically every kid that upon striking out on their own decides to have the luxuries of cable, iphone and morning Starbuck?s is tossing the equivalent of $ 140,000 away without considering what the value really is.

In general, it?s accepted that you should start with $ 2,000 to $ 3,000 before making your first trade as the commissions will be too high an overhead to overcome with smaller trades but till you accumulate that much, you can contribute to a bond ladder or bond fund in your brokerage account as bonds can be bought in small denominations. There are also some mutual funds where you can start out with very little money too.

Investing is difficult enough as it is, once you start putting restrictions like green companies and dreams like nanotech companies in as requirements, you are severely handicapping yourself and presenting yourself with a seriously steep learning curve in learning how to pick stocks in those sectors. You will get much better returns for your efforts by starting with a total market index fund such as VTI or SPY and just read up on your sectors of interest till you have the capital and the knowledge to strike out on your own.

There are many brokers out there with the better known ones being Fidelity and Schwabs. Banks also offer direct investment accounts though it?s generally acknowledged that a brokerage will give you lower commission rates and be more agnostic with their advice. I?ve seen banks sell geriatrics on good conservative funds that unfortunately would have such a high load that the net effect would be the investment could do no better than a CD.

No one is going to have only your personal finance as their motivations in the investments they recommend, all financial investors are in the business of maximizing fees and commissions. Maximizing your returns is only a matter of being able to continue to maximize those fees and commissions so you really need to try and educate yourself for personal finance and investing. It?s not as difficult as it appears and though you may never be a Warren Buffet, you can certainly do better than following the advice of others.

The advice that you have from Internet forums like this may be free of profit motive for the most part but are predominately from amateurs and should be taken with a grain of salt. You can learn a lot from these forums both from the answers and from trying to answer questions but don?t take advice from the forums, at least not without researching them yourself. Many of the answers are off the cuff and not well thought out, many more are pure hypothesis as we learn on the forum. Many people only try to understand financing because of encountering financial hardships and hence may not actually have had a good track record to date, many have done well but perhaps without a full understanding of why but a fairly strong opinion that they do. You have to look to yourself when it?s your own financial future that?s on the table.

Should Bud Selig be Fired or should congress remove bud selig from Commissioners duties?
In fairness do are we seriously supposed to believe that Bud Selig had no knowledge about steroids in Baseball with it being as widespread as it is (as the Mitchell report produced)??Truthfully we know Bud Selig was a major (monetary) beneficiary of the record shattering home-run records of Sosa and McGwire and with Bonds pursuing Hanks Record, Selig profited greatly from Clemmens being the ?Rocket? even in his 40?s?so then as much as we blast Bonds, McGwire Sosa, and now Clemmens?how have we as fans and the Media respectively let Selig off the hook, why isn?t his name getting lambasted like the players who played under his regime (known as ?The Steroids Era?)

So for clarity my questions are?

Should Bud Selig be removed from Commisioner as MLB?

And does it seem the media is willing to give Selig a free pass with him not receiving nearly the media criticism as Bonds and now Clemmens?

    Suggestion by atf666_666
theirs no need because selig is scheduled to retired at the end of the 2009 season and who ever the next commishiner wont be much better because they will also be a puppet of the owners.
But bud will deffinatly know and the commish who took the sport to a new low and a new high. i dont ever see him being enshrined in cooperstown though

    Suggestion by Padres in ?08
That?s not how you will spell his last name (Roger?s)? its?

    ?Clemens?

    Difficult I know.

    Suggestion by F Diddy
Congress does not have the power to ?fire? Bud Selig. Selig is appointed by the owners, and answerable only to them.

Selig will keep his job because he is overwhelmingly popular with the owners. He is one of them, has succeeded in uniting the owners to fight the Players? Union, and baseball has been wildly successful (read: rolling in $ ) during his tenure. Bud Selig will serve as the MLB commissioner for the foreseeable future.

That said, the media is giving Selig a free pass, but that?s just the ?profit motive? at work. No one really cares about Selig, but McGwire, Bonds, Clemens, etc. bring in the viewers/readers/listeners. Players? Union leadership (Donald Fehr, Gene Orza, etc) is also getting a free pass despite fighting steroid testing for the last decade.

Does anyone have tips on how to make a Scorpio and Aquarius relationship work better?
I?m a Scorpio female dating an Aquarius male. Our relationship is very blah, I feel like we?re a married couple already, as far as sex and intimacy goes and it?s only been 3 months. We get along great but I?d like to know how to spice up our relationship.

    Suggestion by SSG D
You are seeking advice for something you have already made your mind up about, look elsewhere for what you hope to find and quit making excuses about astrological signs an crap

Scorpio woman is highly possessive and quite suspicious of her relationships. She can read others quite well while keeping herself hidden until the time comes to where she feels the need to reveal all or part of herself. She may tend to go down a certain path because of the way a past experience has worked out, but this is rare as she is more than patient in waiting for the right time for every decision she makes.
Aquarius man lives his life in a dream state. He is highly independent and will stand behind any decision or promise he makes. He is not one to hide himself or his emotions, which makes him easy to read but will not easily commit himself to anything or anyone if he does not care to.
Aquarius man appear to be ?out there in left field? when it comes to reality but the Scorpio woman who loves him will see this as a breath of fresh air and see it as contributing to her otherwise down to earth and practical lifestyle. Since she tends to suppress any emotion, refusing to give it up for the rest of the world to read and he is a plethora of excitement, dreams, ideas and antics, together they seem to mold to each other giving the perfect qualities to a bond well formed. There may be times when she will let a bad past experience get in the way of their path together, but his ability to go with the flow of things will help her get around such blocks and continue with her Aquarius male as they skip down that path hand in hand.
Unfortunately, Scorpio female?s need to be close during sexual intimacy will not easily be found in Aquarius man. He will appear to be detached from her and the situation, even though his thoughts are merely up in the clouds where they feel at home the most. She should know that he does not do this because of her. He is merely happier this way. This will cause her heartache which will, in turn, cause a rise in her suspicion and jealousy. Her best bet would be to show him she can be as close a friend as she can be a lover. This will, in turn, give her a better lover in him. If he can trust his lover, his thoughts will no longer be in la la land as they will be too busy being focused on her.
Problems will arise between the two when Scorpio woman tries to bind Aquarius man from his freedom, something he feels is his given right to have. He will rebel against these ties and hurt her feelings. She will, in turn, show anger, jealousy and rage and even go along through life as if he does not?t even exist. She will draw her feelings back and hide them deep within her and appear to not care as to whether he does what he wants to do or not. To break the intensity between them, Aquarius man will have to step up and do so. If he can turn back toward Scorpio woman in hopes she has learned to deal with his freedom issues, he?ll be able to help her in making amends, however if not, there will be the issues of him losing his self control. She may appear to be composed toward him on the outside, but deep within her anger still rages on. Without proper communication, they will not be able to come to terms with the problems that arise in this aspect.
In a mutual bond between the two, they can each learn from the other one. Aquarius man?s weaknesses are Scorpio woman?s strengths as her weaknesses are his strengths. He can teach her to be a bit more free and not such a stickler when it comes to putting her foot down with suspicion and possessiveness. She, in turn, can show him a bit more self control when it comes to losing his cool. What happens in the end is as unpredictable as the future.

Well, I?m a scorpio woman and I don?t think Aquarius? are a very good match for us. at least not for me. they aren?t very romantic. not nearly as romantic/passionate as a scorpio. they lack the emotion scorpios possess and desire. good luck.
